Intelligent lighting: a regulatory necessity
Since 2007, France's decree of May 3 has required the installation of eco-efficient lighting with presence detection and natural light dimming for all new construction and renovation of buildings open to the public. At European level, the EPBD directive (2018/844) requires automation and control systems in commercial buildings. The BACS 2025 regulation reinforces this obligation: all renovated buildings must integrate these systems, and from 2027, this will apply to existing buildings consuming more than 290 kWh/m²/year. Intelligent management systems can control, supervise and record luminaire activity, while detecting any anomalies. This level of automation guarantees optimum energy performance and makes it easier to obtain HQE, BREEAM and other certifications. Intelligent lighting means meeting regulatory requirements while enjoying the benefits of connected LEDs.
