Lighting for railways and airports is not just about visibility. Properly thought out and executed, smart lighting can become a real lever for operational excellence, both in new projects and in the renovation of existing infrastructures. Thanks to intelligent, connected lighting, you gain greater control, reliability and flexibility, and achieve energy savings of between 70% and 90%. However, in a railway station, technical center or airport - essential mobility facilities designed for decades of continuous use - the integration of technologies that are poorly mastered, of uncertain quality or at high risk of obsolescence can compromise the reliability and durability of the lighting installation. At Sammode, we have chosen management systems based on open, interoperable protocols, as well as partnerships with experienced European players, to guarantee proven technology that is as durable as our luminaires. We support you from start to finish: advice, implementation, supervision and maintenance.

Reduce your consumption and your carbon footprint

Energy efficiency thanks to differentiated lighting for different spaces

Why provide 100% continuous lighting when occupancy is highly variable? In both technical centers, passenger areas or parkings, presence sensors, automatic dimming, daylight detection and precise zoning enable lighting to be adjusted to actual needs. The result: substantial savings and a reduced carbon footprint, in line with new environmental regulations and commitments.

Protect your teams and users, prevent risks

Lighting that protects technical crews and passengers at all times

Smart flighting detects the flow of people, increases illumination where it's needed, and helps eliminate accident-prone shadows. Controlled by presence or luminosity detection, it accompanies operators in workshops as well as passengers on platforms, footbridges and underground passageways, to guarantee safe and serene conditions, and limit the risk of accident or aggression.

Optimize operator performance and passenger comfort

The right light at the right time

Dynamic lighting, linked to natural light, improves concentration, reduces visual fatigue and supports the precision of technicenter gestures, thanks to a constant level of illumination at all times of the day and night. In passenger areas - notably blind zones or underground sectors - lighting adapted to circadian rhythms creates welcoming atmospheres and contributes to the well-being of users, for a fluid, calming experience.

Flexibly adapt lighting to each application

Flexibly adapt lighting to each application

Maintenance, shunting, cleaning, station crowds: on the same site, the use of the premises and the associated lighting ambience can vary according to the time of day or the time of year. Our systems enable you to program or control the intensity of groups of luminaires, either on site or remotely, and to apply scenarios by time slot (first/last trains, off-peak hours, peak periods), for optimal adjustment and simplified upgradability.

Ensure business continuity

Reliable, communicating lighting to avoid interruptions

Don't risk an operational interruption due to faulty lighting. Thanks to luminaires equipped with intelligent electronics, networked to supervision software or your BMS, you can maintain control over a vital link in railway operations (depots, workshops, platforms, halls). You'll ensure reliable, stable, long-lasting lighting, capable of detecting anomalies and alerting your technical teams in real time.

Anticipate breakdowns with predictive maintenance

Monitor in real time, intervene before an incident occurs

Our latest-generation electronics, boosted by artificial intelligence, optimize the use of usage data. Our connected luminaires not only provide key information on their status (operating hours, consumption, alerts), but also estimate their "remaining life", updated in real time according to all the stresses to which they are exposed. So you can anticipate future failures, plan interventions and optimize your maintenance campaigns without interrupting service - whether in the workshop or in the station.

Make lighting the backbone of a connected infrastructure

A reliable base for sensors and rail services

The lighting network is the densest electrical network on an operating site. It is the ideal medium for integrating additional sensors (metering, pollution, temperature, etc.), collecting data, triggering alerts and controlling your activities in real time. A major operational lever for safety and optimizing the flow of people and materials.

On-board intelligence without compromising reliability

Open technologies and durable manufacturers

At Sammode, technology is at the service of installation reliability and resilience. Our connected luminaires are based on European technologies that are natively interoperable, adaptable and secure - the opposite of closed systems that generate rapid obsolescence. Thanks to robust, standardized protocols such as DALI®, sometimes combined with reliable, proven wireless technologies, you can guarantee the durability, maintainability and scalability of your park over the long term.

Renovation of an SNCF Technicentre Inspection pits

Châtillon, Hauts-de-Seine

As part of the renovation of the inspection pits at the Technicentre de Châtillon (92), the operator was looking for a lighting solution that combined performance, robustness and energy efficiency. The existing fluorescent luminaires consumed a lot of energy and required frequent maintenance.

Challenge

Efficiently illuminate maintenance areas while guaranteeing :
  • visual comfort for operators,
  • resistance to mechanical and chemical aggression (oil, dust, dropped tools, high-pressure cleaning),
  • drastically reduced energy and maintenance costs.

Sammode solution

  • Replacement of fluorescent luminaires with dual-lens LED tubulars, specifically adapted to pit lighting.
  • Integrated automatic lighting control, with one-third master luminaires (presence detector + DALI 2® driver) and two-thirds slave luminaires.
  • DALI 2® control and integrated detection for intelligent dimming :
    • 30% as soon as the train arrives, securing the entire pit.
    • 100% only in the operator's working area.
    • Extinction of the pit with 30 minutes' notice in the event of prolonged absence.
  • Connection to BMS for individual pit supervision and customized lighting scenarios.
  • Integration of technologies directly into the luminaire envelope for maximum reliability and longevity.

Results

  • 86% energy savings.
  • CO₂ emissions reduced by 152 kg/year/pit.
  • Drastically reduced maintenance requirements.
  • Improved working comfort with even illumination (300 lux under stenter, 100 lux at pit end, uniformity >0.5).
  • Accelerated return on investment thanks to lower operating and maintenance costs.
