Inaugurated in September 2023, hamo is Palais de Tokyo’s new space entirely dedicated to education, mediation and inclusion through art. Located at the heart of the Parisian institution, this 500 m² space offers workshops, meeting spaces and educational facilities open to all publics. Conceived as a place for transmission, sharing and creation, it embodies the Palais de Tokyo’s desire to bring art into dialogue with society.
Designed by Freaks Architecture, hamo is distinguished by its experimental yet inclusive approach to architecture. Working in close collaboration with the Palais de Tokyo, Freaks imagined a welcoming, fluid and accessible space, encouraging artistic awakening and collective participation. The project was made possible with the support of the Jonathan KS Choi Foundation, committed to promoting art and culture internationally.
In this context, Sammode was asked to support the hamo ‘s development with a lighting solution from its architectural range. Finely integrated into the project’s volumes, Sammode luminaires play a full part in the space’s visual and functional identity. Their sleek design and controlled lighting contribute to creating an environment conducive to concentration, creation and exchange.
By joining forces with the Palais de Tokyo, Sammode confirms its commitment to cultural institutions and its support for innovation in artistic practices. This partnership illustrates how light can become a vector of inclusion and a tool for mediation, playing an active part in the project’s architectural and social ambitions.
The hamo is part of a new dynamic within the Palais de Tokyo: that of an open, accessible and demanding culture, driven by bold collaborations between the worlds of art, architecture and industry.
