Passy station, on line 6 of the Paris metro, is one of the most unusual stations on the network. Set high above the Seine, it offers a unique view of the Paris skyline and the Eiffel Tower. Its architecture, a blend of metal, glass and period features, deserved an illumination worthy of its character.
As part of the renovation work carried out by RATP, the lighting was completely redesigned to blend discreetly into the structure, while enhancing the special atmosphere of the site. The luminaires chosen from Sammode were selected for their ability to combine quality of light, durability and formal simplicity.
Here, light is soft, even and glare-free. It accompanies the flow of passengers, brightens the platforms and emphasizes the lines of the metal framework, without ever imposing itself. The lighting fixtures have been carefully integrated so as not to disrupt the visual balance of the station.
In addition to improving user comfort, the lighting system is based on high-performance LED sources, with optimized management of light intensity according to need. This significantly reduces energy consumption, without compromising on quality.
This project shows that well-designed lighting can transform the perception of an everyday place, revealing its architectural qualities and enhancing the passenger experience, day and night.
