In Sceaux, chocolatier-sculptor Patrick Roger’s workshop embodies a remarkable synthesis of excellent craftsmanship, artistic expression and architectural excellence. Designed by PM Architecture, this vast 700 m² space, bathed in natural light thanks to a glass façade overlooking a vegetable garden, offers a setting conducive to creation and innovation.
The interior lighting, provided by Sammode’s Benson luminaires, was designed to meet the specific needs of this unique space. These devices modulate the color temperature, providing light adapted to the different zones of the workshop: a cooler shade for production areas, favoring concentration and precision, and a warmer shade for relaxation areas, creating a welcoming atmosphere.
The luminaires’ luminous performance guarantees controlled brightness, essential for the meticulous processing of chocolate, while ensuring optimum visual comfort for the craftsmen. The sleek design and robustness of the equipment blend harmoniously with the industrial aesthetic of the workshop, highlighting raw materials such as concrete, steel and glass.
This project illustrates the importance of lighting designed in coherence with architecture and usage, capable of revealing the uniqueness of a place while providing a functional and inspiring working environment. Patrick Roger’s workshop in Sceaux thus becomes a space where modular, high-performance lighting supports creativity and craftsmanship excellence.
