Insights from an Italian architectural firm: Balance Architettura

Turin-based Balance Architettura’s work is rooted in a rigorous architectural approach, emphasizing clarity of form and authenticity of materials. For over twenty years, the firm’s architects have regularly incorporated Sammode luminaires into their projects.

The first encounter with Sammode luminaires occurred in an urban public space, immediately revealing their aesthetic identity: a streamlined tubular form, visible components, noble materials such as glass, and an absence of over-design. These characteristics found an immediate echo in the vision developed by the Turin-based firm, which favors a legible, unadorned architectural language.

Since 2021, this affinity has led to regular collaboration on a number of projects, in which Sammode products have been chosen for their ability to blend in discreetly while asserting a strong technical presence. Although the brand is not yet very present on the Italian market, it is recognized in informed professional circles for the rigor of its design and the robustness of its solutions.

Superlab Milano is a prime example of how Sammode luminaires can contribute to architectural renovation. This 6,500 m² office building, located in an innovative district of Milan, combines industrial memory with contemporary uses. Lighting plays a structuring role: over 300 luminaires were installed to meet the functional requirements of the workspaces, while at the same time highlighting the volumes and materials. The selected models, drawn from Sammode’s technical ranges, ensure high-performance light distribution and optimum visual comfort. Their industrial design helps assert the identity of the site, while respecting the integration logic defined by the architects. Lighting is conceived as a tool in the service of architecture, guaranteeing legibility and coherence in the building’s various spaces.

In all Balance Architettura’s projects, light is never decorative, but a functional and justified element. This positioning is fully in line with Sammode’s philosophy, which sees its luminaires as technical objects at the service of use, without aesthetic compromise or superfluous artifice.
