CSR ❯ Produce local, think circular, last long
Sammode has never needed slogans to affirm its roots. Since its creation, the company has manufactured where its history began: in the Vosges. Not as a marketing strategy, but because it’s here that its know-how excels in the art of working metal, assembling a luminaire and giving it a solidity that no automated line could reproduce.
Sammode defends French manufacturing against all odds. In a world where many seek to produce fast and far, it chooses proximity and precision. Each luminaire is made to order. No massive stocks, no standardized products shipped to the four corners of the globe. The company designs, manufactures and delivers in a short circuit, with components carefully selected from European partners who share its high standards.
This is what enables it to offer much more than just a product: a promise of traceability, control and, above all, sustainability.

At Sammode, circularity is not a theoretical concept, but a genuine production philosophy guiding every decision. Right from the design stage, luminaires are conceived to be dismantled, repaired and improved.
Rather than seal parts or use adhesives that prevent recycling, Sammode favors mechanical assemblies. An LED module can be replaced without altering the body of the luminaire. A damaged part can be replaced without sending the whole product to the scrap heap.
The company also recovers old luminaires to give them a second life. In its workshops, some tubes installed over thirty years ago are modernized with LED kits, extending their service life for another decade. This is what closing the loop is all about: avoiding the re-production of what can be transformed and reused.
Thinking about the impact of a luminaire doesn’t stop when it’s put into service. Sammode analyzes every stage of its life cycle:
– Manufacturing: Choice of recycled and recyclable materials, reduction of energy-consuming processes.
– Transport: Local production, short circuits, optimized packaging to limit volume and weight.
– Use: Energy efficiency, intelligent lighting management to reduce consumption and lifetime.
– End of life: Demountability, reparability and recycling.
A Sammode luminaire lives a long time, sometimes several decades. The company prefers a sturdier, slightly heavier product that can withstand humidity, dust and shocks, rather than an ephemeral luminaire that has to be replaced every five years. This philosophy naturally reduces the overall carbon footprint: less raw material, less waste, less maintenance.

Sammode has banned anything superfluous. No unnecessary plastic, no disposable, single-use packaging. Its packaging is designed to protect luminaires during transport, while remaining as light and compact as possible. The protections used in this packaging are themselves derived from the recycling of suppliers’ packaging, reinforcing a virtuous loop of material reuse.
Here again, the company favors recycled and recyclable materials. The aim is clear: to avoid turning packaging into cumbersome waste, and to encourage its reintegration into a new production cycle.
For decades, Sammode has been making luminaires that stand the test of time. In factories, railway stations and public buildings, tubes installed in the 80s are still in use today.
This durability is the fruit of a conscious choice: to use noble materials such as steel and aluminum, to reinforce waterproofing and to test each product under extreme conditions. The company invests in robustness rather than obsolescence.
A luminaire that lasts 30 years may consume a little more metal initially, but it avoids several complete cycles of production, transport and waste. Sammode has been making this calculation for a long time, long before the notion of circular economy became a buzzword.

Sammode customers often find that they end up forgetting about their luminaires, because they work so flawlessly. In some industrial plants, installations have been in service for over 40 years.
85% of components are sourced in Europe, reducing transport distances and emissions.
Sammode luminaires last two to three times longer than the market average.
Energy renovation projects can reduce electricity consumption by up to 60% compared with obsolete installations.
100% of our products are repairable and modular.
A light that respects tomorrow
For Sammode, sustainable lighting is neither a label nor a sales pitch. It’s a profound conviction: lighting must serve present generations without burdening those to come.
Make in France, think circular, design to last: That’s how Sammode takes concrete action for a more responsible future. A Sammode luminaire is a long-haul companion, capable of lighting spaces today, tomorrow and long after others have disappeared.
