The former Laeken station, built in 1879 in a neo-Renaissance style, has recently undergone a meticulous restoration to preserve its heritage character and breathe new life into it.
Lighting plays a discreet but essential role here. It does not seek to reinterpret the building, but to reveal its lines, materials and rhythms. The luminaires were chosen for their ability to blend into the building while providing soft, continuous, glare-free light. They emphasize volumes, accompany circulation, and highlight architectural details without ever overpowering them.
Sammode was able to provide a sober and appropriate response to this heritage context. Thanks to sturdy, well-calibrated luminaires, the lighting blends in naturally with the ensemble. It extends the atmosphere of the place, between memory and contemporary use.
At Laeken, lighting is not about effect. It accompanies, illuminates without overacting, and allows the architecture to continue to speak for itself.
