Considering the many different types of needs in these areas, Sammode, the German specialist in high-power lighting, can offer specific LED tubular luminaires for highly corrosive environments, as part of a more global lighting package, with ultra-sturdy solutions able to withstand the sea spray and benefiting from a guaranteed service life of 8 years.

Goods containers are stored at the container terminal prior to loading or after unloading. These terminals are spread over wide surface areas and must be illuminated by both floodlights on 30-metre masts for large spaces, and tubular luminaires providing local lighting on gantry walkways.

SILL brand LED floodlights can offer an unrivalled performance in terms of photometry (precise and uniform lighting) and energy savings. In these outdoor areas, with corrosive coastal air, not to mention impacts and movements, long-lasting ergonomic equipment is essential to limit maintenance costs and guarantee a continuous service. Sammode offers an exceptionally tough pluggable connector with a quick locking system for these LED tubular luminaires, as well as various fixing solutions to adapt to any configuration.

Requirements

  • Large surface areas
  • Marine corrosion
  • Impacts and movements
  • Personnel moving around

Recommended products

  • Cugnot Xtrem

ø100 and ø133 tube light for extreme industrial atmospheres

Vessels come into contact with land at loading and unloading docks.  Dock lighting is critical for effective loading/unloading operations while guaranteeing the safety of personnel.

Dock lighting comes from floodlights fitted on unloading cranes, which must provide light right to the back of the vessel holds, as well as over the entire dock, and local lighting must guarantee that dock operators can clearly see what they are doing. Emergency lighting must also be installed, just like in other port areas.

Conditions on loading/unloading docks are particularly severe due to exposure to coastal air, vibrations, humidity and sea spray, affecting luminaires and floodlights.

Requirements

  • Marine corrosion
  • Vibrations
  • Humidity
  • Sea spray

Recommended products

  • Cugnot Xtrem

ø100 and ø133 tube light for extreme industrial atmospheres

  • Coulomb Industry

Independent emergency lighting, non-permanent, for industrial environments

  • Maxwell

Central source or independent emergency lighting, permanent/non-permanent, for industrial environments

Goods transported in bulk form (not in containers) are received and stored in bulk terminals. This may include ore, sand, fertiliser, hydrocarbons, etc. These goods are routed to silos and tanks via conveyor belts and pipelines.

Lighting in these terminals must meet specific requirements as conveyor belt vibrations are strong; consequently the lighting equipment used must be very sturdy to limit the need for maintenance. In addition, some of the materials transported and stored can potentially be explosive and require luminaires compatible with ATEX environments.

Finally, due to the increased risk of grime caused by dust, Sammode can offer protective stainless steel covers which reduce the need to clean the equipment, Plug & Play sockets, including for the ATEX ranges (in partnership with Marechal Electric), and a large range of turnkey installation solutions.

Requirements

  • Vibrations
  • Dust and grime
  • ATEX areas

Recommended products

  • Cugnot Xtrem

ø100 and ø133 tube light for extreme industrial atmospheres

  • Boyle Xtrem

Borosilicate glass tube ø100 and ø133 for extreme or highly corrosive ATEX zone 2, 21 and 22 atmospheres

The silos and tanks used to store the bulk materials must be considered alongside the bulk terminals, and are subject to further constraints, particularly due to the temperature variations and high temperatures that can be recorded, especially at height.

Due to the explosive risks inherent in some products in storage, it is essential to install luminaires in compliance with ATEX standards.  Sammode tubular luminaires, certified for explosive environments, are ergonomic, easy to install and 100% maintainable. The most powerful models, which are impressively light thanks to a smart approach to ATEX protection, offer an ideal alternative to ATEX floodlights, which are generally heavy and complex to handle.

Requirements

  • Dust
  • High temperatures
  • ATEX environments

Recommended products

  • Boyle Xtrem

Borosilicate glass tube ø100 and ø133 for extreme or highly corrosive ATEX zone 2, 21 and 22 atmospheres

  • Sabatier Xtrem

Borosilicate glass tube ø133 for extreme or highly corrosive ATEX zone 1 atmosphere

  • Fumat

Tube ø133 for high-ceilinged ATEX zone 2,21,22 atmospheres

Shipyards are industrial sites where ships are built. These sites comprise large-scale structures with several floors and site lighting must cover specific requirements as walkways, thoroughfares and the ship under construction must all be illuminated.

Some shipyard areas require lighting that meets ATEX standards, particularly for ship paintworks, which imply the risk of explosive particle projection. Finally, shipyards are fully fledged industrial sites, and as such must be kitted out with specific emergency lighting indicating the direction of emergency exits.

Requirements

  • Large-scale shipyards
  • ATEX areas

Recommended products

  • Pascal

Tube ø100 and 133 for industrial atmospheres

  • Jamin

    Tube ø100 and 133 for industrial ATEX zone 2, 21, 22 atmospheres

  • Coulomb

Central source or independent emergency lighting

  • Maxwell

Central source or independent emergency lighting, permanent/non-permanent, for industrial environments

Lighting on board vessels is primarily critical for obvious functional purposes, lighting up the ship and ensuring the safety of personnel on board.  However, on board lighting also plays a role in the vessel’s identity and style: interior design counts even on board a ship!

Lighting must be both impressively solid considering the extreme conditions which vessels can face at sea, and add an architectural touch to lighting in corridors, on walkways, on bridges and in relaxation areas, as well as for emergency lighting and illuminated signs.

Requirements

  • Marine corrosion and extreme conditions
  • Interior design
  • Resistant to impacts and vibrations

Recommended products

  • Foucault

ø70 compact tubular light fitting for confined industrial spaces

  • Cugnot Xtrem

ø100 and ø133 tube light for extreme industrial atmospheres
