The MOAB offshore platform (Mobile Offshore Application Barge) from CONGOREP has been built to increase the productivity of the Emeraude oil field in the Gulf of Guinea, Democratic Republic of Congo. The rig (30x40m large and 4000T) was manufactured in parts, assembled in Morocco and brought to the Gulf of Guinea in 2008 by a special vessel. To improve the production in this low pressure oil field, PERENCO has decided to use steam injection technology. The steam is injected into the oil field through 4 holes to reduce the oil viscosity. 9 producing wells are drawn on the border of the oil field to extract the oil.
SAMMODE HOPKINS light fittings are used to illuminate the whole platform. The explosion-proof fittings are made with borosilicate glass and 316L stainless steel, the best materials for an offshore environment. Half of the 100 lamps is provided with the “3 hours power backup” option in order to provide sufficient lighting in case of power cut.
